Lesson 3 · The Duck's Course

Counting envido points

What your hand is worth in the envido: two of a suit, face cards worth zero, and the single card.

20 plus the two

The envido is a separate bet from the truco, decided by your points. Two cards of the same suit are worth 20 plus their sum. Face cards (10, 11 and 12) count zero and the 1 counts 1. With three of a suit, the best two count. Without two of a suit, only your highest card counts. The maximum is 33 (7 and 6 of a suit). Tied points? The player who is hand wins.
